Thumper sketch process by Grigori77 Thumper sketch process by Grigori77
My SECOND tutorial, mainly since I was doing a FEMALE character this time an' I figured those few of you who actually LIKED the first one might be interesting in seeing the flip-side ...

Anyway, this is for my one of my new X-mutant characters, Thumper, and I knew right away this was gonna be a good one, soon as I hit stage one, so I thought this would be a good one to use.

1. as before, the basic structure. Again I started with a stick-person framework and then build the basic anatomical structure over it. Once again much of it wouldn't be seen in the final piece, but of course it's important because it still dictated how clothing will interact with the body.

2. I started with the jacket this time because I figured this would be the key feature to this character's costume. The first example is really more typical, since i tend to start with the pants and work my way up ...

3. NOW the pants, including the basic idea of where the rips in the jeans might be and how they might look. I also put in the sneaker-boots at this time.

4. Finished off with the top and the gloves, then finalised the basic structure of the face and a rough outline for her hair. Next step, of course, is the refined sketch with all the details for the inking ...

Again, hope this was REMOTELY helpful for getting an idea of how I work ...
