Description

Thought you guys might be interested to get a look at this WIP before I post the main piece (given I'm having trouble uploading ANYTHING at the moment I'll take what I can get) ...

Anyway, the original pencils [link] were done by the excellent :iconrandygreen:, my first crack at colouring his work but I plan on doing more - the guy's an EXCEPTIONAL comic book artist. :D Anyway, I've been having a ball with this piece and it IS actually finished now, I'm just having SO MUCH trouble with the uploads I don't think I'll get it posted tonight. :( Never mind ... at least this made it through, so I though you'd at least wanna check this out.

Anyway, on the left are the basic flat colours - basically how I did it was I selected the black lineart, then inverted it so I could fill in the rest of the space ... then when that was done I copied the clean lineart over and pasted it over the top - and there we had the flat colours. It's actually the first time I had a proper go at doing it this way, and it worked SCARY WELL, so I'm gonna keep doing this now. ^^; Yeah, I know, proper amateur ... but I'm learning. ;)

On the RIGHT we've got the (nearly) finished colours, with all the depth and detailing in. There was a special effect I wanted to have a crack at (hence, if you look, the dark girl's left gauntlet is still flat - spoiler, that ...) but I figured I'd put this together first. This is also BEFORE I fed it through a final filter I ALWAYS use to soften it up a little and smooth everything out so it looks SPOT ON.

At some point I WILL be doing a FULL process pic, showing you how I put this together start to finish ... but for now, enjoy. I hope you don't find this THOROUGHLY dull (and ta if you stuck with this ... ^^;

Hopefully I'll have the final piece up tomorrow ...

original inks created with Pilot Hi-tecpoints on Bristol Board, digital colours created in Gimp 2.6 with my Wacom Bamboo Pen. You can also find my original inked lineart in my scrapbook: [link] :iconrandygreen:'s original pencils are here: [link]

The colors are really cool-looking. I wish I could do stuff like this. XD
